Male Choir

The male Chorus was founded and organized in 1965 under the leadership of the late Mrs. Zoe Barbee. For many years, she served as both pianist and directress. She channeled her energies and talents into developing a chorus that concentrated on making Christ known through song.

Mrs. Barbee was consistent in fulfilling her responsibility - no sacrifice was too great. She had a genuine love for people and music, and did whatever she could to create a wholesome atmosphere when working with adults and young people.

The Male Chorus sang on a regular basis here at Laughlin and throughout the Greensboro community. Mrs. Thelma Robinson succeeded Mrs. Barbee as directress /pianist. Mrs. Ella Smith served as pianist for a short period of time after Mrs. Robinson. Other musicians were Dr. Opal Hawkins, and Terry Poteat. In 1986, we celebrated our Twenty First Anniversary.

The male Chorus was dormant for many years. Under the leadership of our Pastor, Rev. Dr. Paul Perkins, the Male Chorus was revived and began singing again in 1998. Dr. Wilma Gerald became our Directress and continues to serve until present day.

On February 16, 2020, the reorganized chorus celebrated our 22nd Anniversary. The COVID-19 Virus curtailed our 2021 celebration. We are waiting to see what God has in store for us.
